Editing at a hub

Pam Nelson, formerly of the McClatchy Publishing Center in Charlotte, N.C., and Todd Kistler and Thom Wright of Los Angeles News Group, offered some advice for working at an editing hub during their session April 13 at the ACES national conference.

The three talked about setup and workflow, adaptations they’ve needed to make, and how they’ve solved problems, including that rank-and-file copy editors should try to play a role in the discussion even if they don’t have power over the outcome. They also said copy editors at hubs need to get to know the client publications and their coverage areas.

Nelson offers more information on her hub tips on her ACES blog, The Grammar Guide.
