ACES 2012 | New Orleans

Gear up for the silent auction with this preview

Looking for a word nerd gift? Then we’ve got some stuff for you.

Join the fun and help raise money for the ACES Education Fund during the annual silent auction Friday, April 13.

Check out seven of the items below — including a comma splice T-shirt, New York Times crossword canister and Jim Beran journalist poster.

Organizers already have more than 100 items — including gift certificates for several New Orleans restaurants (including VIP bottle service at one) and New Orleans-themed items; the usual hats, totes, shirts and the like; punctuation jewelry; personal care items; lot of books; and a wireless printer/scanner/fax. And more is coming in each day.

The auction will be open all day Friday, starting on the second floor of the Sheraton-New Orleans and moving to the fourth floor outside the banquet hall late in the afternoon. It will close two hours after the bar opens on Friday night, just in time for the banquet to begin. Some items will be auctioned live during Friday’s night banquet.

Proceeds help the Education Fund award scholarships to copy editing students.
